It was a privilege for McAdam to be invited to the official opening by DfI Minister Nicola Mallon of the redeveloped Lagan Dragons Boat Club on Stranmillis Embankment.
The Lagan Dragons is Northern Ireland’s first ever Dragon Boat team made up of paddlers who have been directly or indirectly affected by a breast cancer diagnosis. The launch of the site marked the culmination of work undertaken over the last number of months by the club by McADAM, DawsonWAM and Northstone (NI) Limited to completely transform the site from a heavily overgrown and unusable boat yard to a safe and secure site that will enable the club to enjoy their sport and allow more people affected by cancer to join.
During the opening, Minister Mallon paid tribute to the formidable women of the club who had pooled support from the local community to make this happen. Lagan Dragons Club Chair Jenny Colmer thanked McAdam, Dawson WAM and Northstone for their generosity in giving up their time, expertise and materials to provide the club with a home.
