McAdam are delighted to announce the recent planning success for the construction of a new jetty on Lighthouse Island.
Our Engineering Associate Clare Morris has been working closely with our Client Copeland Bird Observatory to provide safe low tide access to the designated Special Protection Area (SPA), Special Area of Conservation (SAC), Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI) and one of the 3 Copeland Islands located 5.5km off the coast of Donaghadee.
The project team including industry specialists MCL Consulting, Carlin Planning, Ashliegh Contracts and Malachy Walsh and Partners received the good news that the marine licence and planning approval have now been granted for the provision of a new jetty, robust enough to withstand the bracing forces of the Irish Sea to ensure this beautiful island remains protected yet accessible to continue with vital conservation works and research studies.
Throwback image to when our hardy staff rolled up their sleeves to undertake a bit of housekeeping for the resident manx shearwater, arctic tern, gulls and puffins.
