Sod turned on new development at the Common, Lifford
On Monday morning (25 November 2024) the Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council turned the sod on a new development at the Common Lifford marking the beginning of the construction of enabling infrastructure that will allow for the future development of this site.
This enabling infrastructure will allow for the development of a new Social Housing scheme with 60 units, new playing fields that will enhance local recreational facilities, sites for economic development creating new job opportunities and new Community Health facilities.
McAdam Design Ltd provided Project Management and Civil & Structural design services for the project from inception and managed Quantity Surveyors (Wright & Partners) and M&E Designers (Wallace Whittle) to complete respective services to enable construction award.
The development consists of:
· Approximately 720m of access road and shared footways/cycleways throughout a Greenfield sloping site.
· Recreational pitch construction for local football club.
· Wastewater pumping station and associated pipe networks to service future developments.
· Stormwater drainage facilitating potential future connections inclusive of Water Quality & Volumetric mitigation infrastructure for discharge to the local watercourse.
· Services and utilities to service proposed developments including ESB substation.
· Future linkages that will facilitate access to adjoining lands to enable potential future development proposals and facilitate future road layout proposals that will increase the overall connectivity to the town centre for both pedestrians and road users.
