Akim Oda, Akwatia and Winneba Water Project, Ghana

Following a two-stage (Technical and Financial) Tender Competition McAdam Design were awarded a 2 year Consultancy Services Contract with Ghana Water Company Ltd in May 2015 to carry out Design Reviews and Construction Supervision of the Akwatia Water Project being designed and constructed under a FIDIC Contract by Turkish contractor Arda Grup.

The Akim Oda, Akwatia and Winneba Water Project will provide three towns (Akim Oda, Akwatia and Wiineba) in the Central Region of Ghana with treated water. When completed the works will produce 30,000 m3/day (6.7 MGD) of water benefiting up to 70,000 people in Akwatia and Akim Oda and adjoining communities meeting water demands until 2025. The project (value US$165 M), jointly financed by the Turkish Eximbank and the Government of Ghana, will take raw water from the Birim River supplying a new Water Treatment Works.

In addition to the construction of the new WTW the works include: Construction of Ground Reservoirs (up to 6,000 m3 capacity), Construction of Elevated Water Tanks, Supply and laying 50 km of Transmission Mains, Supply and laying of 260 km of Distribution Mains, Creation of Zonal Metering Areas, District Metering Areas, Construction of Staff Residential and District Office Buildings for Client (Ghana Water Company Ltd) back
