Managing Director

Martin is the Managing Director of McAdam and Architectural Lead Director since 2000. Dual qualified as both an Architect & Project Manager he has helped establish the practice as one of the leading design consultancies in Northern Ireland across a wide range of sectors. In addition, he has held the following key industry positions – President of the RSUA, Chairman of the APM N. Ireland Branch and Chairperson of the CIC N. Ireland Region. He has also lectured at the Ulster University & Queens University Belfast on Modern Procurement Methods.

Martin is passionate about delivering high quality buildings founded on proven best value & sustainable design principles which are evidenced in his portfolio of award-winning projects. Although experienced in all areas of McAdam's Architectural work he has particular expertise in both the Education & Leisure Sectors in which he has completed many of Northern Irelands most recognisable projects.

John Findlay

BSc (Hons) FRICS APMP NECReg MIoD

Project Management Lead

John has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry and joined McAdam in 2012 as a Board Director. He has worked across UK & Ireland in a variety of sectors including Utilities, Major Infrastructure, Commercial, Retail and Public & Private Housing. He is a Chartered Surveyor and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has served for 8 years on the RICS NI Board.

John leads the Project Management team delivering a range of services such as Project controls & procedures; Delivery of best practice and corporate governance; Client & stakeholder management; Delivery of service (quality & on time); Manage & control commercial & contractual matters; Manage & monitor project fees; Select and implement project teams; Deliver training needs; Recruitment & retention of staff.

John is also the Financial and Health & Safety Director for McAdam.

Fergus Kerr

Engineering Lead

Fergus has worked for McAdam since he joined as a graduate in 1994. For most of his career he has worked in the Water Sector working on a wide variety of projects. 

He achieved Chartered Engineer status in 2000 with the ICE and has been an active member of various institutions throughout his career. He has served on a number of Institution Committees including becoming chair of the Northern Ireland branch of CIWEM in 2012. He is currently a committee member for the Association of Consulting Engineers.

He was appointed to the Board of Directors for McAdam in 2012 with responsibility for all Water Engineering Projects. In 2020 he was appointed lead Engineering Director with overall responsibility for the engineering side of the business.

Neal Kerr

IMS Director

Neal joined McAdam in 2018 as a Technical Director after 20 years working within the construction industry in Northern Ireland and abroad. He has a strong background in delivery of water and wastewater projects and programmes with a particular interest in using procurement, and effective risk, contract & cost administration processes to drive improvements in project delivery and reduce risks for clients. 

He achieved Chartered Engineer status in 2004 with the IEI and as an NEC3 and NEC4 Accredited Project Manager with mediation training he brings a strong contractual and commercial influence to our business. He believes in a practical approach to problem solving and uses his experiences within client, consulting and contracting organisations to ensure that all voices are heard and respected.

He was appointed to the Board of Directors for McAdam in 2020 with responsibility for our accredited Integrated Management Systems, Water and Engineering Design Build teams.

Stephen Harding

MEng (Hons) CEng MICE

Environmental Director

Stephen has nearly 20 years working within the construction industry, achieving Chartered Engineer status in 2004 with the ICE. He has gained significant  experience in the Civil Infrastructure and the Water Sectors working for major public sector clients in Northern Ireland, GB, Ireland and Australia delivering a wide range of projects from strategy level through feasibility, design and construction.

He has responsibility for the Civil Infrastructure part of our business which includes Public Realm, Environmental Improvements and Active Travel projects and support of our major Architectural projects. He also assists Fergus and Neal in our Water Sector work with a particular focus on Strategic studies and Innovation projects.

Stephen joined McAdam in 2018 as a Technical Director and  was appointed to the Board of Directors for McAdam in 2020 where he serves as our Environment Director responsible for implementing our Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility Policies.

Chris Cheater

Architectural Director

Chris has been appointed to McAdams Board  which sees him return to McAdam with an increased insight into Project Delivery models focusing on providing best value to our clients. Chris will draw upon his working experience to help continue to lead the architecture department and how projects are delivered. Chris developed his career within McAdam working through the company from Project Architect, Associate and Architectural Director to his current position. Chris understands the delivery process with the company whilst also considering how best these resources can be deployed to exceed our clients' expectations.
